Robert Johnston is a former Air Force reconnaissance pilot and was a pilot for a major international airline for 35 years. He became interested in British India and the later Mughal-style coins in the late 1990s, becoming intrigued by the many uncatalogued coins, with only Major Fred Pridmore's pioneering work of the 1970s and the Krause catalogues available as references. Paul Stevens is primarily a collector, but since his retirement in 2008 has spent much time collecting information about Indian coins, building a database of the information (www.psindiancoins.com) and writing books, including this second edition of the EIC catalogue.
